Satun is a provincial town in southern Thailand, close to the Malaysian border. The resort stands on Satit Yuttitham Road in the town itself, so everyday life runs along the streets and markets around it. The town's mosques and food reflect its close ties to the Malay side of the border. The Tarutao islands lie offshore and are reached by boat from the coast.

The most useful nearby places are the Masjid Mambang, about 900 m away, and the Night Market, 1.1 km away, which fills in the evening with food stalls and everyday goods. The National museum Satun is 1.2 km away, and Monkey Mt Forest Park, a green area on the edge of town, is 1.3 km away.

A good plan is to visit the National museum Satun in the morning, then walk to Monkey Mt Forest Park and return to the Night Market in the evening. The four sights above can all be reached on foot from the resort, so the day can be planned without a taxi.
