Boats for the islands and nearby beaches leave from the piers along the bay.

Krabi International Airport is 15.9 km away. Railay, reached by longtail boat from Ao Nang, has limestone cliffs and beaches, and Phra Nang Cave is on the same peninsula, so the two can be visited together. Mountain Buddha Temple, a hillside pagoda 800 m away, and Wat Tham Suea, also known as Tiger Cave Temple, a hilltop temple complex 12.2 km away, are other sights nearby.

A good day out is a longtail boat from Ao Nang to Railay, followed by Phra Nang Cave on the same peninsula and an afternoon at the Mountain Buddha Temple. Boat trips to Railay can be cut short when the sea is rough, especially in the rainy months. In the evening, the restaurants and massage shops of the bay are a short distance from the hotel.
