Thai Modern Resort & Spa offers villas and rooms with different set-ups, from the One Bedroom Villa with a double bed to the Deluxe Twin with two single beds and the Pool View Villa with a view over the pool. The Garden View Villa sleeps up to three guests, and the Onebedroom Villa and the Pool View One Bedroom Villa also sleep three.

Rooms can have garden or pool views, air conditioning, a desk, a hair dryer and toiletries, and many have a private bathroom with a bathtub or a shower. Some rooms have free bottled water, and rooms can also have a flat-screen TV, satellite and cable channels, and a telephone.

The resort has an outdoor swimming pool and an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, and a garden with a terrace. Massage treatments are offered, and a solarium lets you sunbathe in the open air.

Dining is at the restaurants, the bar and the poolside bar, or through room service, and a shared kitchen is available to guests. Breakfast is served in Asian, buffet and continental styles. A shared lounge with a TV area, a gift and souvenir shop, a convenience store and a playground round out the facilities.

For getting around, the resort offers an airport transfer, tours, car hire, a shuttle service and taxi service, with free parking on site and free WiFi in all rooms. Daily housekeeping, laundry and ironing services, a concierge and luggage storage are also available.

Chalong is a district of Phuket island known for its temples and its bay, and it has a calmer feel than the busier beach strips such as Patong. The area is more residential than the coast, with local streets, small shops and eateries, so the resort works as a base for exploring rather than a place in the middle of the nightlife.

Wat Chalong, one of the most revered temples on Phuket, is 1.5 km from the resort, and its pagodas are a good first stop for visitors. The Big Buddha stands on a hill 1.9 km away and can be seen from a distance. Chalong Pier, 3.3 km away, is the ferry terminal for boat trips to the islands, so it is the starting point for island boat trips from this side of Phuket.

A good day could start with a morning at Wat Chalong, continue to the Big Buddha, and finish with a swim at Karon Beach, which is 3.5 km away. Kata Beach, 3.7 km away, is an alternative for the late afternoon, and Phuket Bird Park and Tiger Park are close to the resort for a shorter visit. Between sightseeing, the resort's garden and its massage service offer a slower pace.
