Sumer guesthouses is a 5-minute walk from Patong Beach, the main stretch of sand in town, and the nightlife is close by. The area is built around tourism, with hotels, shops and street food stalls along the main roads.

Bangla Road, the street of bars and clubs, is 250 m away, and the Banzaan Fresh Market, a night market with food stalls, is 300 m away. Jungceylon Shopping Center is nearby for shops, and Kalim Beach, 2 km away, offers a quieter stretch of sand. Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, is one of the best-known temples on the island, and the Big Buddha Phuket, on its hill, is 7.4 km away with views over the island.

Phuket International Airport is 24.3 km away, on the same island, so the last part of the journey is by road. A day could start with a walk along Patong Beach, continue with a visit to the Big Buddha, and finish at the Banzaan night market in the evening. Kalim Beach makes a quieter alternative to Patong for the afternoon.
