Suksompong Resort

Suksompong Resort has one-bedroom villas and double, twin and deluxe rooms with garden views. One 40 m² villa has mountain views, a whirlpool bathtub and a sauna, and the 36 m² double or twin room has a balcony or terrace.

Some double and twin rooms can be set up with a choice of bed set-ups. Rooms can have air conditioning, a mini bar, a refrigerator, a coffee and tea maker and an in-room safe box, and some have a private bathroom with a hair dryer.

Diving, snorkelling and canoeing are also offered, and tours can be arranged, along with a shuttle service, car hire, bicycle rental and an airport transfer.

The front desk is open 24 hours, with laundry service, dry cleaning, ironing and daily housekeeping, and the grounds include a garden and a terrace. Khao Lak is a coastal area of Phangnga province on Thailand's Andaman coast, where beaches meet forested hills and national parks. The beaches are backed by those hills, and the coastline is dotted with small resorts and guesthouses. Bang Niang Beach is the nearest beach to Suksompong Resort, 1 km away, and the area was badly hit by the 2004 tsunami, so the memorials and museum along the coast are part of its story.

Within about 1.2 km of the resort are the Police Boat 813 Tsunami Memorial and the Tsunami Museum, with Bang Niang Market a short distance further. Inland, Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park is 3.7 km from the resort, and Ton Chong Fa Waterfall is 3.4 km away. Phuket International Airport is 60.9 km from the resort, and since Khao Lak is on the mainland the trip from there is by road. Getting around is simplest with a car or scooter, since the beaches and attractions are spread along the coast road.

A good day starts at Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park and its forest trails, then continues with the tsunami memorial and museum before an afternoon at the beach. Khao Lak is also a common base for diving trips to the Similan Islands, which go by boat and depend on the season and the sea.
