Sukhothai Indy Resort

Rooms at Sukhothai Indy Resort are bungalows set in the resort garden, along with a room assigned on arrival at the front desk. Some bungalows have air conditioning, flat-screen TVs and private bathrooms, and the bungalows accommodate from three to five guests.

The shared lounge with a TV, the terrace and the garden are open to guests as well, so there is space to relax between trips out to the historic sites. Daily housekeeping is provided.

Sukhothai Indy Resort is in Muang Kao, in Mueang Sukhothai, a town in central Thailand built around the ruins of the Sukhothai Kingdom's old capital. The ruins, temples and parkland of the old city draw travellers who want to see Thai history up close, and the resort is a place to return to after a day at the temples. Village homes stand between the historic sites, so the area feels very different from the busier streets of the modern town.

The Sukhothai Old Town is 1.1 km away, and the Sukhothai Historical Park, the UNESCO World Heritage site with the main ruins, is 7.3 km away. Wat Saphan Hin, a hilltop temple with a large standing Buddha statue, is 4.2 km away, and Sukhothai Airport is 29.2 km away. Wat Sri Chum, known for its giant seated Buddha, is one of the main temples of the ruins.

A good day starts early at the Historical Park, moving between the main temples such as Wat Maha That and Wat Sri Chum, and then continues to the Ramkhamhaeng National Museum, 7.7 km from the resort, which displays art and artefacts from the Sukhothai period. In the evening, the night market is a simple way to end the day, with food and local goods.
