The Big Buddha Phuket, a large white marble statue on a hill, is 1.7 km away and gives wide views over the island. Wat Chalong, Phuket's most important Buddhist temple, is 5 km away. Phuket International Airport (HKT) is 32.1 km away, and the island is linked to the mainland by a road bridge.

A good day could start with the Big Buddha in the morning, continue with a swim at Kata Beach, and end at the night market. The beach is close enough to fit a swim between visits, so an afternoon in the sea fits easily into the day. Evenings suit a walk from the beach to the night market and back.
