Rooms at Star Guesthouse run from city-view rooms with a king, queen or double bed to a two-bedroom family suite that sleeps up to four guests. Some rooms have a balcony or terrace, and the Standard has a double bed alongside two single beds. Several rooms have a private bathroom with a shower, toiletries and towels.

Star Guesthouse is on Rat-u-thit 200 Pee Road in Patong, one of the busiest resort towns on Phuket. The area is lively in the evening, with bars, massage shops and street stalls around Bangla Road, and Patong Beach is the town's main stretch of sand, 400 m away. Phuket is Thailand's largest island, and Patong is one of its main resort areas, reached by road from the airport with no boat needed for the final stage of the journey.

Jungceylon Shopping Center is 300 m away, and the night market is close by. Further afield, Big Buddha Phuket, 7.6 km from the hotel, is a hilltop statue with wide views across the island, and Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, is one of the island's best-known temples. Freedom Beach, a quieter beach, offers a change from the town's sand.

Phuket International Airport is 24.1 km away, and the hotel offers an airport transfer. Karon and Kata beaches lie to the south of Patong, and Phuket FantaSea, a theme park with shows, is a further idea for an evening out. Nai Harn Beach, 12.9 km away, is another choice for a calmer day by the sea. A good day could start on Patong Beach, continue with a visit to Big Buddha or Wat Chalong, and end at the night market.
