Further out, Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, is 6.3 km away, and Big Buddha Phuket, a large statue on a hilltop, is one of the island's best-known sights.

Phuket International Airport is 23.9 km away, and the trip into Patong is made by road. Taxis, songthaews and tuk-tuks are the usual way to get around, and a good day out starts at Wat Chalong, moves on to Big Buddha Phuket and returns to Patong for the night market.
