RK Guesthouse is on Nanai Road, among the shops and eateries that fill the town, so the sea and the nightlife are both close by. Patong Beach is 1.2 km away, and Jungceylon Shopping Center is 800 m away with its shops and restaurants. Bangla Road, the town's main nightlife street with bars and clubs, is also nearby, and Banzaan Fresh Market, 600 m away, sells food and everyday goods. Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, is one of the island's most revered Buddhist temples, and Big Buddha Phuket, a large statue on a hill, is 6.6 km away. Karon Beach and Kata Beach follow along the coast to the south, reached by road.

Phuket International Airport is 25.1 km away, and an airport transfer is offered by the guesthouse. A good way to spend a day is to combine the western beaches with Wat Chalong and Big Buddha, then return to Bangla Road for the evening. Phuket FantaSea, the large cultural show complex, is a little further out, and the mix of beaches, temples and night streets gives the area plenty to fill a short trip.
