Railay is a peninsula on the Andaman coast of Krabi province, known for limestone cliffs that rise above its beaches. Trips in and out of Railay always involve a longtail boat, and the beaches sit in small bays between the cliffs. The resort is at Railay East beach, on the east side of the peninsula, where the cliffs and the water are the main scenery.
Railay East pier is 400 m from the resort, and longtail boats for the crossing leave from Ao Nam Mao pier on the mainland, the only way onto the peninsula from there. Phra Nang Cave, 1,000 m away, is known for its shrine to a princess spirit, and Ao Nang Beach, 2.4 km away, is the main beach of the mainland resort strip. Krabi International Airport is 17.9 km away, and the route from there runs through Ao Nam Mao pier.
Railay is known for rock climbing, and several climbing schools and shops operate close to the resort. The resort itself offers canoeing, hiking, snorkelling and tours, so a day can start at the hotel. Poda Island, 5.5 km away by boat, is one of the nearby islands for a day trip, and Tup Island lies next to it.
