Rakkan Resort

The rooms at Rakkan Resort include bungalows, a house and rooms for up to three guests, and free Wi-Fi is available in all of them. The Standard Bungalow measures 16 m² and has a sea view. The Rakhine Room has a beach view.

Some rooms have a private bathroom, and the bungalows and the house sleep up to three guests, so a small group can stay together on the island.

The resort has a private beach, a restaurant, a bar, a coffee shop and a massage service, and there is an airport transfer and a shuttle service. Breakfast comes in Asian and buffet styles, and BBQ facilities and a snack bar are on site too.

For days on the water, fishing, boating, canoeing, diving, snorkelling and hiking are offered, and tours can be arranged. Guests can use the solarium, the terrace and the shared lounge and TV area.

The services also include laundry service, daily housekeeping, luggage storage, safety deposit boxes and private check-in and check-out. Car hire is offered, and kids meals are available, so families can plan meals without leaving the resort grounds.

Ko Phra Thong is an island off the Andaman coast of Phang Nga province in southern Thailand, a rural place of small villages, beaches and fishing along its shores. Rakkan Resort stands on the island itself, so a stay here is a quiet change from the busier towns of the mainland, with a private beach close to the bungalows.

Golden Buddha Beach and Ko Pling Beach are the nearest beaches, about 650 m and 750 m from the resort. Ban Singto is the closest village, 4.5 km away, and the ruins at Ban Ko Rak lie 6.7 km off. The crossing to the island starts from Kuraburi Pier, 17 km away on the mainland, and the last stretch of any trip is by boat, so the island is a place reached on purpose.

A good first outing is a swim at Golden Buddha Beach, followed by a visit to the Hornbill Hill viewpoint, which is also close to the resort. For more time on the water, the resort's boating, canoeing, fishing and snorkelling activities fill a day, and tours can be arranged for trips further afield. Sea conditions can affect the boat crossing in the rainy months, and the beaches are a good place to end the day.
