Pranee Guesthouse

Pranee Guesthouse offers budget and standard doubles and twins, along with a standard double with a balcony and a standard room for up to four guests. Rooms can have air conditioning, a private bathroom with a shower and toiletries, and free Wi-Fi, and several of them have a city view.

Pranee Guesthouse is on Sairee Beach, the best-known stretch of sand on Ko Tao, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand. The area is known for its diving schools, bars and simple restaurants, and it stays lively into the evening. This is a busy beach area rather than a quiet cove, and many travellers come here to learn to dive or to go snorkelling. The sand is about 300 m from the guesthouse, so the sea is the first thing to reach.

Several sights are close by. The King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) monument is 1.1 km away, the Top of the rock viewpoint is 1.2 km, and the ferry pier is 1.9 km from the guesthouse. Ko Tao is reached by boat from Ko Samui or from the mainland, so the last part of every journey is by water. Samui Airport sits across the water on Ko Samui, and the guesthouse is best reached with that boat leg in mind.

A good day here starts with a snorkelling or diving trip to the islets off the coast, then a walk up to the Coconut Viewpoint, 1.4 km away, for the view over the coastline. Boat trips depend on the weather and the sea, so the timing of a day out can change at short notice. In the evening, the beach road has bars and restaurants close to the sand, and the walk back is short.
