Phuket Orchid Resort

The rooms at Phuket Orchid Resort measure between 35 and 38 m², and several of them look out over the garden or the pool. Beds range from king beds and single beds to a bunk bed, and some rooms sleep up to five guests.

Garden views and pool views are both offered, and some rooms have wireless internet access, satellite or cable channels and a telephone. Bathrobes, a hair dryer and toiletries are provided in several rooms. The Deluxe Room includes open-air bath privileges, and the family rooms combine king beds with a bunk bed or a single bed. Capacity runs from two to five guests.

The resort has an outdoor swimming pool and a children's swimming pool, and a poolside bar serves drinks beside the water. Facilities also include a fitness centre, a spa with massage, and a sauna.

Dining covers Asian, buffet and Western breakfasts, restaurant lunch and dinner, a coffee shop, a snack bar and room service. The restaurant also serves a la carte dishes, and there is international cuisine in the restaurant.

For families there is a kids club, a babysitting service, a game room and a playground. Tours and car hire can be arranged, there is an airport transfer, and free WiFi is available in all rooms. Parking is free and on site.

Karon is a long, sandy beach lined with hotels, restaurants and shops, and it has a quieter pace than the busier resort area at Patong. The resort is close to the sand, and the Karon Night Market is nearby for evening shopping and food.

Kata Beach, 1.1 km away, is a neighbouring beach on the same stretch of coast, so the two are easy to combine in one day. Big Buddha, 2 km away, is a hilltop statue and one of the island's best-known landmarks. Chaithararam Temple, better known as Wat Chalong, is 4.6 km away and is one of the most revered temples on Phuket, while Patong Beach, the resort area with the island's best-known nightlife, lies further along the coast. Phuket FantaSea, the large cultural show and theme park in Kamala, is also a drive away by car.

Phuket International Airport is 30.8 km away, and the island is linked to the mainland by a bridge, so the trip from the airport is made by road. A good day could begin with a swim at Karon, continue to Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha in the hills, and end with an evening walk along the sand at Kata. All of these sights lie within a short drive of the resort.
