Wat Chalong, the Chaithararam Temple, is one of the island's best-known temples and lies 6.7 km away. The Big Buddha, a large statue of Buddha on a hill, is 7.3 km away. Kalim Beach and Merlin Beach are other stretches of sand further along the coast.

Patong works well for a day on the beach and an evening stroll along Bangla Road. A day trip to Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha can be combined with a visit to Phuket FantaSea, and Kata Beach and Karon Beach are also reachable by road. Phuket International Airport is 24.6 km away. Phuket Old Town, with its Sino-Portuguese shophouses, is a quieter place to spend an afternoon away from the beach.
