Karon Beach, with its long stretch of sand, is 2.2 km away and makes a good change of scene for a beach afternoon. The island's main sights are spread out, so a taxi or hired car is useful for the longer trips.

A good day out takes in Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha, a large white statue on a hilltop, before an evening at Phuket FantaSea, the theme park with its cultural shows, 8.7 km away. The nearest airport is Phuket International Airport, and Phuket is joined to the mainland by a bridge, so the trip from the airport is by road.
