Bang Niang is a village in the Khao Lak area, on the Andaman coast of Phangnga province in southern Thailand. The area mixes sandy beaches, village life and places that recall the 2004 tsunami, which struck this coast with great force, so the history is part of a visit here. The nearby village of Ban Khuk Khak adds to that mix.

Bang Niang Beach is 1.7 km away, and the International Tsunami Museum is 2.1 km away, a useful stop to understand what the tsunami did to this coast. The Bangnieng Afternoon Market is also close by, and the Khao Lak bus station is nearby. Ton Chong Fa Waterfall, 4.9 km away, is set in the hills, a different landscape from the coast.

Similan National Park, 12.5 km away and reached by boat, is one of the main day trips from this coast, though its islands close to visitors for part of the year during the rainy season, so boat trips depend on the time of year. Phuket International Airport, the nearest major airport, is 64.1 km away.
