Location & what to see
Ao Nang is a beach town on the Andaman coast of Krabi province, on a bay with limestone cliffs and islands just offshore. The area has an easy evening rhythm, with street-food stalls, massage shops and tour offices along the main road, and both the beach and the boat trips to the islands are close at hand.
Noppharat Thara Beach is within walking distance, and the Ao Nang Beach stretch is a little further along the coast. Longtail boats leave from the piers for Railay, a peninsula reachable only by boat and 5.9 km from the hotel, and for the Hong Islands, 37.9 km away. Phra Nang Cave, a shrine cave with a small beach, lies on the Railay side, and Tiger Cave Temple, 15.4 km away, climbs the hillside by a long staircase.
A good day can start with a longtail boat from one of the Ao Nang piers to Railay, then continue to the Hong Islands by boat, where day tours stop for swimming and kayaking. Sea conditions can change quickly in the rainy months, so keep a land-based plan too, such as an afternoon at the Ao Nang Night Market or a visit to Tiger Cave Temple.
