Phuket is linked to the mainland by a bridge, and most sights outside Patong are reached by taxi or car. Chaithararam Temple, better known as Wat Chalong, is one of the island's most important Buddhist temples and is 6.6 km away, while the Big Buddha Phuket, a large white statue on a hilltop, is 7.5 km away. Kalim Beach, 1.9 km away, is another sandy stretch to explore, and Phuket International Airport is 24.2 km away.

A good day here could begin on Patong Beach, continue with an afternoon at Wat Chalong or the Big Buddha, and end with the lights and music of Bangla Road in the evening. The night market is a short walk away, so dinner after the trip is easy. A taxi is the simplest way to reach the temples and the Big Buddha from the hostel.
