Beach days and the limestone scenery of the region are the main draw nearby.

The Mountain Buddha Temple is 2.5 km away, a hillside temple with a view over the town. The Weekend Market, 3 km away, is a lively place for food stalls and local goods, and the Ao-Nang Landmark Night Market is also in the area. Railay Beach, 5.2 km away, is reached by longtail boat from Ao Nang, and the Ao Nang Beach Pier is the departure point for boats to the nearby islands.

For a day out, Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), 11.7 km away, is a hillside cave temple reached by a long stairway. Krabi International Airport is 16.1 km away, so the trip from the airport to Ao Nang is made by road. Boat trips from the pier can be cancelled when the sea is rough, especially in the rainy months.
