The Big Buddha, one of the island's best-known landmarks, is 4.5 km away, and the Na Muang Waterfall lies 10.6 km inland. Wat Plai Laem, a temple known for its lake and a Guanyin statue, is also worth a visit.

A good day could begin with a swim at Chaweng Yai Beach, continue to the Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem, and end with an evening stroll along the Walking street. The island's roads reach each of them, so no boat is needed to get between them, and the waterfall makes a quieter stop away from the beach for the afternoon.
