Lanta Chaolay is in Saladan itself, with the pier and the village shops nearby, and walking through the village is the easiest way to see what the island offers.

Saladan Pier is 200 m away, and the ferry terminal is the island's link with the mainland. Kantiang Bay, 700 m away, is a bay with a beach that is well known on the island. Klong Dao Beach, 1.6 km away, is a sandy beach with a long stretch of coast. Krabi International Airport is 50.3 km away on the mainland, so the journey to the island always involves a ferry or boat.

Mu Ko Lanta National Park, 20.9 km away, protects much of the island's forest and coastline, and the Khlong Chak Waterfall is one of its best-known spots. The Khao Mai Kaew Cave, a limestone cave, makes a good half-day outing on the island. Snorkelling and diving trips leave from the pier, so a morning on the water fits easily around the check-out time.
