Krathom Khaolak Resort

Accommodation at Krathom Khaolak Resort takes the form of bungalows and villas, and several rooms have a garden view. The 20 m² bungalow and the 30 m² villa both have a garden view and sleep up to two guests, with a choice of bed set-ups.

Rooms with no other details sleep up to three guests, except one bungalow that takes up to four. Each room is described below with its own size, capacity and features.

The resort has an outdoor swimming pool and a children's swimming pool, with a poolside bar, and the gardens and terrace give guests places to sit outdoors. The resort is family and child friendly, and it also has a shared lounge and TV area, luggage storage and safety deposit boxes.

Dining is on site with restaurants, a coffee shop and room service, and a continental breakfast is offered. A 24-hour front desk is part of the service, and daily housekeeping is provided.

Khao Lak is a coastal area on Thailand's Andaman coast, in Phang Nga province, where forested hills meet the sand. Nang Thong Beach is the nearest stretch of sand to the resort, and the coast was badly affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, a history that memorials and a museum along the shore now recall.

The Tsunami Museum is 2.3 km away, with exhibits on the disaster and its local impact. Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park, 2.5 km away, is a forest park with waterfalls and jungle trails inland, and Similan National Park, 8.2 km away, is a group of islands known for its diving and snorkelling. Trips to the Similan Islands are made by boat, so they are a planned excursion rather than a walk. Sunset Beach and Bang Niang Market are also close by. Most of the beaches and the market can be reached by road, while the national park and the waterfalls are best reached by local vehicle.

A good day could start on Nang Thong Beach, continue with the Tsunami Museum, and end with a walk through Bang Niang Market. A longer day can include a boat trip to the Similan Islands, where the coral reefs attract divers and snorkellers.
