Koh Nang Yuan, a group of small islets just offshore that is known for snorkelling, is 1.7 km away. The Lomprayah Koh Tao Pier, 2.5 km away, is where ferries from the mainland arrive, so the pier is the first stop for most arrivals by sea. Diving courses and boat trips are a big part of the island's daily life, and many of the dive centres are within a short walk of the beach.

Sea conditions can stop boat trips in the rougher months, so the day is best planned around the weather at sea. A good day is a morning on Sairee Beach followed by a snorkelling trip to Koh Nang Yuan, and an evening walk along the beach road for dinner, with the island's sea views in the background.
