Patong Beach, 5.2 km away, is the island's lively resort beach, with restaurants, bars and nightlife. Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, is 13 km away and is one of the most revered Buddhist temples on Phuket. Big Buddha Phuket, a large hilltop statue, is 14.2 km away and offers wide views over the island. Laem Sing Beach, a quieter stretch of sand nearby, is another place for a swim.

A day could begin with a swim at Kamala Beach, continue to the night market and end with a show at Phuket FantaSea. For sights further afield, the island is reached by road, and Phuket International Airport is 17.8 km away. Kamala works well as a base for day trips across Phuket rather than for nightlife.
