It is a practical base for travellers who want to spend the day on the water and the evenings in the village.

Many excursions start from the Ao Nang Beach Pier, 1.3 km away, the ferry terminal for boat trips. Longtail boats go from the bay to Railay Beach, 3.6 km away, a beach reached by boat and set among limestone cliffs, with Phra Nang Cave nearby. The Hong Islands and Poda Island are also reached by boat from the bay, while Emerald Pool, a forest pool inside Khao Phanom Bencha National Park, lies inland.

A day can start on the sand at Noppharathara Beach, continue by longtail boat to Railay or the islands, and finish at the night market back in the village. Krabi International Airport is 19.1 km away, so the road from the airport is the way to the hotel. For a change of scene, Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea) gives a trip inland, away from the boats.
