Khao Lak is best known for its beaches and its national parks, which together draw visitors to the coast for both sea and forest.

Around the resort, the International Tsunami Museum, which covers the 2004 disaster, and the Bangnieng Afternoon Market are both a short walk away. Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park, 5.2 km away, has forest trails, waterfalls and beaches, and Ton Chong Fa Waterfall is 4.5 km away in the hills. Similan National Park, 10.9 km away, is reached by boat, as its islands lie offshore.

A day could begin at the market and the tsunami museum, continue with the waterfalls and trails of the national park, and finish on the beach. Bang Niang Beach is 800 m from the hotel and Khuk Khak Beach is 1000 m away, so the sea is a short walk from the rooms. A boat trip to the Similan islands makes a different kind of day, and in the evening the resort's bar is close at hand, while the market is near enough to walk to.
