Ko Lipe is a small island in the Andaman Sea, off the coast of Satun province in southern Thailand, and it is reached by boat from the mainland. Gelato Galleria stands on the walking street of Koh-sarai, in the Pattaya Beach area, where beaches, dive shops and bars sit close together. Much of the island is explored on foot, so most of what it offers is reached without a vehicle.

Pattaya Beach and the Koh Lipe Ferry Terminal are both 50 m away, and the walking street, with its restaurants and bars, is 150 m away. Sunset Beach lies 550 m away and Sunrise Beach 750 m away, both within walking distance along the island's beaches. The beaches are the everyday centre of the island, and the village behind them is small enough to cross on foot in a short time.

A day could start with a walk along the beaches, then continue with a boat trip to Koh Adang, 6.1 km away, one of the islands nearby. Snorkelling is the natural draw for many visitors, and the boats to the surrounding islands depart from the same shore. Boat trips to the nearby islands can be disrupted by rough seas during the rainy months, so the sea decides the plan for the day.
