Eight Koh Tao Hotel

The rooms at Eight Koh Tao Hotel come in several types, from a budget double with a private bathroom to a deluxe room with air conditioning and a king bed. Standard rooms use a fan or air conditioning and have two single beds, and some of them have a city view.

The budget double measures 16 m², the standard rooms 20 m², and the deluxe room with a king bed 24 m². The Double room sleeps up to three guests, and the Room Economy sleeps up to eleven.

Mae Haad is the ferry port area of Ko Tao, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand known for diving and snorkelling. The streets around the pier have dive centres, shops and restaurants, and the hotel sits in this busy stretch rather than in a quiet cove, with Haad Ao Mae beach close by. Most of the island's accommodation sits within a short ride of the pier, so the hotel is a practical place to start the day.

Sairee Beach, the island's main beach strip, is 900 m away, with dive shops and restaurants along the sand. The Lomprayah Koh Tao Pier is 450 m from the hotel, and Koh Nang Yuan, a small islet with a well-known viewpoint, is 4.2 km away and reached by boat. Ko Tao has no airport, so the nearest are Samui Airport (USM), 64.7 km away on Ko Samui, and Chumphon Airport (CJM), 87 km away on the mainland, and a boat is needed to reach the island from either.

A day often starts with a dive or snorkelling trip, and outlying islets are reached by boat, which rough seas can disrupt. Walking the beach road from Mae Haad towards Sairee takes in several dive centres and is a simple way to see the island's dive scene, and a boat trip to Koh Nang Yuan makes a good half-day outing.
