D.R. Lanta Bay Resort

The rooms at D.R. Lanta Bay Resort are superior and deluxe rooms, bungalows, family suites and junior suites, measuring from 32 to 56 m². They sleep up to four guests, and beds are single, double, queen or king depending on the room, with the family suites offering a choice of bed set-ups.

Rooms can have air conditioning, a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, a hair dryer, a refrigerator and a balcony or terrace. Some look onto the garden and some onto the pool, and a few suites have an electric kettle and free bottled water. Guests can pick from rooms for two or three people and family suites sleeping four.

The resort has an outdoor swimming pool and an indoor swimming pool, plus a children's swimming pool, a garden and a shared lounge/TV area. Massage treatments are offered on site, and there are shops and a convenience store. Guests can relax in the garden between swims.

The resort is in Klong Dao on Koh Lanta, a long island in the Andaman Sea that belongs to Krabi province. The beach is 80 m from the resort, and Kantiang Bay, another sandy bay on the island's coast, lies 850 m away. For a beach stay, Klong Dao keeps the sea and the sand close at hand, and the island's slower pace sets the rhythm of the day. The resort's own pools offer a second option for a swim when you want to stay close to the room.

Koh Lanta is reached by ferry from the mainland, so the last stretch of any journey is by boat, and the Sala Dan ferry pier is 1.7 km from the resort. Khao Mai Kaew Cave, a limestone cave 12.6 km away, is one of the island's main sights, and Lanta Old Town, a traditional village on the island, is also worth a visit. Both make a good change from the beach.

A full day can take in Mu Ko Lanta National Park, 20.3 km away, a protected area of islands and coastline. A relaxed day can start on the sand at Klong Dao and end at the pool or in the garden, with the national park for a change of scene.
