D&K Smiley Phuket Resort

Several rooms at D&K Smiley Phuket Resort have garden views, air conditioning, private bathrooms with a shower and toiletries, and flat-screen TVs with streaming services such as Netflix. Sizes run from 18 m² to 100 m², and capacity runs from two guests to five.

The One-Bedroom Chalet covers 18 m² and sleeps up to two guests. The Chalet covers 25 m² and sleeps up to three guests. The One-Bedroom Bungalow measures 50 m² and sleeps up to three guests, and the Two-Bedroom Bungalow, at 100 m², has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, offers a choice of bed set-ups and sleeps up to five guests.

The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and a children's swimming pool, as well as a garden and a terrace. For food and drink there is a bar, a coffee shop and BBQ facilities, and a shared lounge/TV area with on-site entertainment and a game room.

Parking is free, and free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, with Wi-Fi in the public areas as well. Airport transfers and a shuttle service are offered, and there is car hire, tours and currency exchange.

There is 24-hour security, and luggage storage, safety deposit boxes, laundry and ironing services are offered. Diving, fishing and snorkelling are also offered, and English, French, German and Thai are spoken.

D&K Smiley Phuket Resort is in Rawai, a fishing area at the southern end of Phuket island, where the pace is quieter than in the resort towns farther up the coast. The area's working fish market, the southern beaches, temples and boat piers are the main draws from here, while the nightlife of Patong is a drive away. The fishing harbour and the fish market give the area a local feel that differs from the main beach strips.

Chalong Beach is 1.4 km away, and Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong and the best-known Buddhist temple on the island, is 4.7 km away. The Big Buddha, a large white statue on a hilltop, is 3.5 km from the hotel, and Nai Harn beach, with its sheltered lagoon, is a short drive further. Chalong Pier, a ferry terminal, is 2.4 km away.

A good day could start at the Big Buddha and Wat Chalong, then move on to Nai Harn or Kata Beach for the afternoon. For nightlife and shopping, Patong Beach and Bangla Road are a drive away, and the Jungceylon shopping centre is close to them. Back in Rawai, the fish market is an easy morning stop to see what the local boats have brought in.
