Location & what to see
Ko Lipe is a small island in Satun province, in the Andaman Sea off southern Thailand, and its village centres on a walking street. Decho Hostel stands on that street, a short distance from the ferry pier and the island's beaches, among shops and bars. The village is compact, so most places can be reached on foot, and the island is reached only by boat, with Trang Airport on the mainland about 118.8 km away.
The beaches are the main draw close to the hostel. Pattaya Beach lies 250 m away and Sunrise Beach 400 m, and the Koh Lipe Ferry Terminal is 350 m away for boats arriving at and leaving the island. Koh Adang, a neighbouring island 6.1 km away, can be reached by boat, and a mosque and a pharmacy are also close at hand. The bars along the walking street are close for the evening.
From the pier, boats head out to the islands around Ko Lipe, and snorkelling spots lie within a boat ride of the village. A day trip by boat to the nearby islands makes a natural day out from the village, and the compact village makes it easy to return to the hostel in the afternoon.
