Ao Nang is a beach town on the Andaman coast of Krabi province, with a long sandy shoreline lined by small restaurants and shops. Chada Thai Village is about 580 m from the beach, so the sand is an easy walk away, and the evening market is only 200 m off. The beach road is lined with restaurants, tour offices and small shops, and most visitors spend their days on the sand or on the water.
Boats are the main way to reach the wider coast. Railay is 3.4 km away and reached by longtail boat, with limestone cliffs. Phra Nang Cave, a limestone cave with a small beach, lies on the Railay peninsula next to it. Poda and Tup islands, and the Hong Islands farther out, are popular day trips from the Ao Nang Beach Pier.
A day could begin on the beach and continue with a boat trip, although sea conditions decide which island trips run. For a land excursion, Tiger Cave Temple, 14.8 km away, is a Buddhist temple complex near Krabi town, while the Emerald Pool (Sa Morakot) lies in the hills farther inland. The Hong Islands are known for their hidden lagoons, reached by longer boat trips.
