Bed & Beach Hostel Karon

The rooms range from bunk beds in mixed and female dormitories to private rooms for up to seven guests. Several rooms have an ocean view or a beach view, and the private rooms have kitchenware or a full kitchen, with a balcony or terrace in some of them. The rooms measure between 10 m² and 40 m², and the private rooms sleep up to seven guests.

Free WiFi is available in all rooms, and air conditioning is one of the facilities in several of them. Bathrooms are shared in most rooms, with towels and toiletries provided in the shared bathroom, and a desk is included in several private rooms.

Services include an airport transfer, car hire, a taxi service, tours, currency exchange and concierge help. Luggage storage, lockers, safety deposit boxes and daily housekeeping are also offered, along with a convenience store.

For food and drink there is a shared kitchen, a kitchenette, a snack bar, a bar and food delivery, and a bottle of water and breakfast service are also available. For time off, guests can use the game room, the shared lounge and TV area, a computer station and a terrace. The kitchen, the lounge and the TV area are shared spaces used by everyone staying at the hostel.

Luggage storage and safety deposit boxes are available, and tours can be arranged for trips around the island. Currency exchange and concierge help are also available at the hostel, so guests can ask for advice on the island.

Karon is a long sandy beach with a row of hotels, small restaurants and shops along the road behind the sand. The area is lively in the evenings, but Patong, 5.8 km away, is livelier still, with more bars and nightlife along its streets. Karon works well for travellers who want a beach base with easy access to the rest of the island, without the busiest nightlife.

The hostel is 50 m from Karon Beach, and Kata Beach is the next beach along for an afternoon swim. Big Buddha, the large seated statue on a hilltop, is 2.1 km from the hostel. Phuket International Airport is 30.9 km away on the same island, so the last part of the trip is by road. The beach road has street-food stalls and massage shops close to the sand.

A good day out combines Big Buddha with Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong), one of the island's most important temples, and an evening at the Karon night market for street food and shopping. For a night out, Phuket FantaSea, a cultural theme park with an evening show, is also on the island, and the beach road in Karon is an easy place to end the day with a walk and a meal.
