Banmaihom Resort Amphawa

Banmaihom Resort Amphawa has garden and river-view cottages alongside standard rooms, and its accommodation sleeps between three and five guests. Some rooms have a private bathroom with a shower and toiletries, and the cottages sit with views of the garden or the river.

Several rooms have air conditioning, a refrigerator and free bottled water. The Family Cottage also has a balcony or terrace and a seating area, and the River View Cottage has a window that opens. Banmaihom Resort Amphawa is in the Muang Mai area of Amphawa, a canal town in Samut Songkhram province in central Thailand. Its waterways, traditional Thai houses and floating markets give the town a slow, old-fashioned character that is very different from the busy streets of Bangkok.

The Bang Noi Floating Market, 4.8 km from the resort, is one of the best-known markets in the area, with food sold from boats on the canal. Wat Bang Kung, a temple 3.9 km away, is another place to see on a short trip. Nearby, the King Rama II Museum honours the Thai king of that name, and the Amphawa Thai Dessert Museum is devoted to traditional Thai sweets.

A good day here starts with a boat trip along the canals, followed by the floating market at Bang Noi, and ends with a visit to one of the museums in the area. Back at the resort, the garden gives you a quieter place to finish the day. For a longer outing, the museums and temples around Amphawa are all within a few kilometres of the resort, and the Amphawa Bus Station is 5.9 km away for travel further afield. Visitors who enjoy old wooden houses and slow waterside walks will find plenty to see in the town itself.
