Baan Bussara

The rooms at Baan Bussara include double and twin layouts, and several of them have air conditioning, a private bathroom and a balcony or terrace. Some rooms look out over the garden, and several have a flat-screen TV, a fan and free bottled water. Beds are a double bed in some rooms and two single beds in others, and the rooms with a private bathroom come with a shower and toiletries.

Guests stay at the guesthouse on Soi Bua Wan, where the garden and the bar are on site and Ayutthaya Train Station is 600 m away. From the guesthouse the temples of the historic city are reached by road: Wat Mahathat is 1.1 km away and Wat Chaiwatthanaram is 4.1 km away, so a day of sightseeing starts close to the room.

Guests can use the garden, the bar and the terrace, and free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms. Free parking is available nearby, and a smoking area is set aside on the property. Wi-Fi also covers the public areas.

Daily housekeeping is provided, and bicycles are available to guests for getting around the area. Air conditioning and heating are provided in the public areas, and English is one of the languages spoken at the guesthouse, which also has a smoking area for guests who smoke.

Baan Bussara is on Soi Bua Wan in the Tha Wa Su Kri area of Ayutthaya, a historic city of rivers and temple ruins north of Bangkok. The Chao Praya River is 400 m away, and the streets around the guesthouse are the everyday setting of a provincial Thai town, with small shops and markets nearby.

The temples are the main sights of the area. Wat Mahathat, the temple where a Buddha head sits among tree roots, is 1.1 km away, and Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, with its three restored chedis within the old palace grounds, is 2 km away. Wat Chaiwatthanaram, a riverside ruin with tall Khmer-style prangs, is 4.1 km away. Ayutthaya Train Station is 600 m away, so the trip from the station to the guesthouse is short.

A good plan is to start at Wat Mahathat in the morning, continue to Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, and then reach the riverside ruins of Wat Chaiwatthanaram before finishing with a walk along the Chao Praya River. Allow a full day for the temples, which are spread over several kilometres. The Ayothaya Floating Market & Elephant Village is a further outing from the same side of the city, and it makes a good half-day trip for those staying a few days.
