Bangla Road is the town's nightlife street, lined with bars and clubs, and the Jungceylon Shopping Center is a large shopping centre a short walk away. Further out, Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong) is 6.7 km away and is one of Phuket's most important temples. Big Buddha Phuket sits on a hill 7.7 km away, and Karon Beach, at 4.2 km, is a quieter stretch of sand. Taxis and songthaew shared trucks are the usual way to reach the sights further out, and scooters are a common choice for those who want to explore on their own.

A good day could begin on Patong Beach, continue with a visit to Wat Chalong, and end with the evening show at Phuket FantaSea. Phuket International Airport is 24 km away, so the trip back to the airport is the same road used for the rest of the day's journeys.
