Ao Nang is a beach town on the mainland coast of Krabi province, facing a bay of limestone karsts that rise straight out of the water. The village has a lively seafront with street-food stalls and boat-tour offices, and Ao Nang Beach is 450 m from the resort. Evenings are busy along the seafront.
Boats are the way out of Ao Nang. The Ao Nang Beach Pier is a short walk away and is where longtail boats leave for the nearby islands and the limestone-cliff beaches. Railay Beach, a peninsula of cliffs reached mainly by longtail boat, is 2.3 km away, and Phra Nang Cave, with its beach beneath the cliffs, lies a little further on. On land, the Ao Nang Night Market, 1.3 km away, is the place for evening food and souvenirs, while Krabi International Airport is 18.6 km away.
A day can start with a longtail boat from the pier to Poda and Tup islands, with the Hong Islands as a longer trip further out. Back on the mainland, Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), a hillside temple with a long staircase, is 14.9 km from the resort and suits an afternoon visit, and the night market makes an easy evening stop.
