Ao Nang's streets fill with small shops, massage corners and food stalls in the evening, which keeps the town busy after dark.

Noppharathara Beach and Ao Nang Beach are the nearest stretches of sand, and the Ao Nang Night Market is nearby. Railay, a peninsula of limestone cliffs 4 km away, is reached by boat. The Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), a hilltop temple reached by a long climb to the top, is 14.7 km away. Krabi International Airport is 19 km away, and the Hong Islands, reached by boat, are 39.5 km away.

A good day can start with a swim at Noppharathara Beach, then a boat trip to Railay or the Hong Islands, and an evening at the Ao Nang Night Market. In the rainy months the sea can be rough and boat trips may be cancelled. The town's evening market and beach promenade make a good end to the day.
