It is a lively town rather than a quiet village.

Noppharathara Beach is 100 m from the resort, and the Ao Nang Night Market, with its food and souvenir stalls, is 300 m away. Railay Beach, 3.6 km away, is reached mainly by longtail boat and is known for its steep limestone walls. Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea) is a hillside temple complex 15.3 km away, and Krabi International Airport is 19.4 km away, with the road from the airport running to Ao Nang without a ferry.

A good day could start with a longtail boat to Railay Beach, then a walk back along the bay to Ao Nang Beach and an evening at the night market. Boat trips to the nearby islands of Poda and Tup depend on the sea conditions on the day, and anyone wanting a quieter afternoon can spend it at the resort's pools instead.
