Phuket International Airport is 24.6 km away, and the island is linked to the mainland by bridge, so the airport and the rest of Phuket are reached by road.

A good day out is to visit Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, one of the most important temples on Phuket and 6.8 km away, then return to Patong Beach in the afternoon. Karon Beach, a few kilometres further south, makes a quieter alternative for the afternoon on the sand.
