Rawai is a fishing village area at the southern tip of Phuket, a long way from the nightlife of Patong and closer to the sea and the local bays. Chalong, the neighbouring area, has its own pier and a Buddhist temple, and the south of the island is generally calmer than the western beach strip. The villa's own pool gives a quiet base for the afternoon, away from the crowds of the beaches to the west.

Chalong Beach is 900 m from the villa, a local stretch of sand. The Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong), a major Buddhist temple, is 4.4 km away, and the Big Buddha, a hilltop statue with views across the island, is 3.5 km. Kata Beach, a popular swimming beach on the west coast, is 4.3 km. The Phuket Seashell Museum is next door.

A day in the south can start at the Big Buddha and the temple at Chalong, then move on to Kata for the afternoon, before returning to the villa pool in the evening. For boat trips to nearby islands, Chalong Pier, the ferry terminal on the bay, is a starting point, while Phuket International Airport is 33.9 km away. Patong, with its nightlife, is on the other side of the island and a longer drive away, so most days can stay in the south.
