Vanich House : The Mechanic's Room

The whole property is one apartment with a private entrance, air conditioning and a flat-screen TV. It measures 45 m², sleeps up to four guests and has a river view. It has one bedroom or studio space and one bathroom.

Soi Vanich 2 sits in the Bangkok Riverside area, along the Chao Phraya River, where old Chinese shophouses, small shrines and riverside temples stand alongside the busier streets of central Bangkok. The Chao Phraya is the area's main route, with boats and ferries running along it. Street-food stalls and handmade crafts line the nearby lanes, and the streets are easy to explore on foot.

Khlong San BTS Station is 650 m away, and Hua Lamphong MRT Station and the Marine Department Pier are close by, so the skytrain, the metro and the river are all close to hand. The Grand Palace, the former royal complex beside the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, lies 2.8 km away, and Wat Arun, the temple with its porcelain-covered tower, is 2.6 km away. Talat Noi, with its old streets and the So Heng Tai Mansion, is about 200 m away.

A good day can start with a walk through the Talat Noi streets and a visit to one of the Chinese shrines, then a boat along the Chao Phraya to the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. The mix of old shophouses and modern city life makes the area a varied place to walk around, and in the evening the riverside is at its best at dusk, when the city lights come on across the water.
