The Sala Daeng BTS station is 650 m away and the Si Lom MRT station is 700 m away, so both the Skytrain and the metro can be reached on foot, and both stations connect to the rest of central Bangkok. Further afield, Jim Thompson House, the former home of the American who revived Thai silk, is 3 km away, and The Grand Palace, with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in its grounds, is 5.7 km away.

A good day could start with the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn across the Chao Phraya river, then continue to Asiatique - The Riverfront, a riverside shopping and dining complex at 4.1 km. Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of Bangkok's best-known weekend markets, is a longer journey out and is worth a separate day.
