Siam Paragon, a large shopping centre 4.7 km away, is reached from the same line, while the Jim Thompson House, a museum set in traditional Thai houses, is in the same central area. The line is a useful first step for a day out across central Bangkok.

A full day could start on the skytrain towards the centre, then continue to the Grand Palace and Wat Arun on the Chao Phraya River, which are reached more easily by taxi from here. Chatuchak Weekend Market, open at weekends, is a bigger excursion for another day, and Khaosan Road, the backpacker street close to the river, is a good place for an evening walk.
