Tiger House Hostel Koh Tao

Every room has air conditioning and a balcony or terrace. The hostel has mixed dormitory rooms with bunk beds, and a twin room with its own private bathroom, a flat-screen TV and a coffee and tea maker.

Each dormitory room is for one guest in a bunk bed, with blackout curtains, linens, a socket near the bed and free bottled water. The dormitories share a bathroom with a shower, toiletries and a hair dryer. Each dormitory room has a single bunk bed, and the twin room has two single beds for up to two guests, with towels and its own bathroom with a shower.

Free Wi-Fi covers all rooms, and there is also Wi-Fi in the public areas. The shared lounge with a TV area is a place to relax, and the game room has a pool table, table tennis and board games for meeting other travellers.

A convenience store on site sells a range of everyday goods, and free bottled water is provided in the rooms. A separate dining area is available, and lockers are provided. The property is accessible by stairs.

English and Thai are the languages spoken at the property. The lounge, the game room and the convenience store are shared by everyone staying at the hostel, whether they are in a dormitory or in the twin room, so the common spaces are the same for all guests.

Sairee Beach is the main beach on Ko Tao, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand off Surat Thani province, and the hostel sits right on it, a few paces from the sand.Ko Tao is known for diving, and dive shops, street-food stalls and small shops line the beach road within walking distance of the hostel.

Sairee Viewpoint, 1.2 km away, overlooks the beach and Koh Nang Yuan, the small group of islets offshore that many day trips visit. The King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) monument stands 350 m from the hostel. The ferry pier, 1.1 km away, is where boats from the mainland and Koh Samui arrive, and Samui Airport is 65.8 km away.

A good day could start with the viewpoint at Sairee and end on the beach, with a boat trip to Koh Nang Yuan for the islets. Dive trips and snorkelling leave from the beach area, so the hostel is a short walk from most of the day's starting points. Ao Tanote Beach, 2.4 km away, is another sandy bay to visit during the day, and the Sairee Viewpoint is a good place to see the bay from above before going down to the water, and the beach itself is the natural place to finish the day.
