Ari BTS Station is 550 m from the hotel, and the skytrain links to the rest of the city. Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of Bangkok's largest weekend markets, is 1.7 km away and sells clothing, food and crafts. Or Tor Kor Market, at 1.4 km, is known for fresh produce and cooked food, while Phaya Thai Palace, a former royal residence now a museum, is 2.3 km away. Jim Thompson House, the teak home of the Thai silk pioneer, and Siam Paragon are in the Siam area, reached by BTS. The Grand Palace in the old city is 7.1 km away.

A good day could begin early at Chatuchak, when the stalls are busiest, then continue by BTS to the Siam area for Jim Thompson House and Siam Paragon. The Grand Palace and Wat Arun, on the river in the old city, make a separate outing, and the old city is best saved for a day of its own.
