The Hidden Sao Chingcha

Shophouses along the lanes sell food, drinks and souvenirs, and the mix of old buildings and busy roads makes the neighbourhood easy to explore on foot.

The Giant Swing and Wat Suthat are each about 100 m away, two monuments close to the hotel. The Grand Palace, with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha inside its walls, is 1.1 km from the hotel, and Wat Arun lies 1.6 km away across the river. Khaosan Road, with its street-food stalls and bars, is 800 m away, and Sam Yot MRT Station is 700 m from the hotel, linking the area to the rest of Bangkok by metro.

A good day could start at the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew in the morning, continue with a boat across the Chao Phraya to Wat Arun, and end on Khaosan Road in the evening. For a change of scene, the Chatuchak Weekend Market is further north, a longer trip by metro.
