The old city is compact, and most of the main sights can be reached on foot from here.

The Grand Palace is 1 km away, with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha inside its walls, and Wat Arun, the riverside temple with its tall spire decorated in porcelain, is 1.6 km away. For trips further afield, Sam Yot MRT station is 800 m away.

A good first day starts with the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew in the morning, then a walk back through the old city towards the Giant Swing and the temples of Wat Suthat, which is close to the apartment. Adding Wat Arun to the route makes the day a good mix of palaces and riverside temples. In the evening, Khao San Road offers a busy stretch of street life nearby.
