A full day in the historic core can start at The Grand Palace, then cross the river to Wat Arun and continue to Asiatique - The Riverfront, the riverside complex of shops and restaurants. On weekends, Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of Bangkok's largest markets, is worth the trip, and the Jim Thompson House museum, a set of traditional teak houses, is another stop in the city centre.
